Anand Mahindra announces special gift to India’s armless Archer Sheetal Devi

Being the only armless archer, she won three medals that includes a gold medal in the women's individual event.

Just like the able-bodied Indian athletes at the Asian Games, the para athletes from the country gave an exemplary perfomance at the recently concluded Asian Para Games. India registered its best-ever tally of 111 medals in the tournament.

There were a few performances that stood out in the continental event. India’s 16-year old Sheetal Devi grabbed the eyeballs. Being the only armless archer, she won three medals that includes a gold medal in the women’s individual event.

Hailing her performance, industrialist Anand Mahindra has announceda special gift for the young Archer. The chairman of the Mahindra Group, who is active on social media posted a video on his X account.

“I will never again complain about petty problems in my life. Sheetal Devi you are a teacher to us all,” he wrote a heartfelt note. Further in a heart-warming gesture, he added, “Please pick any car from our range. We will award it to you and cutomise for your use. “

Sheetal Devi’s performance at the Asian Para Games

Sheetal is the only armless archer across all categories at the Asian Para Games this edition. She uses only her feet to hold the bow and shoot.

The teenager made her Asian Para Games debut this season. She started by winning a silver in Women’s Doubles alongside Sarita. The next day, she paired up with Rakesh Kumar in the Mixed Doubles Open event. The duo went on to clinch the gold medal.

In the Women’s individual compound event, she defeated Singapore’s Alim Nur 144-142 in a thrilling final. The Indian was trailing initially, but she scored back-to-back 10s to score perfect 30 in the next two sets to grab the gold medal.
