In the ICC team of the tournament, while four Indians found spots, there were a few deserved players, who did not make the cut.

Just a day after India’s T20 World Cup 2026 triumph, the ICC has come up with its own list of Team of the Tournament, and there definitely are a few surprise inclusions. For starters, there were no Australians in the team, and no member from the runners-up side, New Zealand. Aiden Markram was named the skipper of the side, where perhaps someone like a Mitchell Santner did a better job than him, as a leader.

4 Indians in ICC Team of Tournament

The opening slots went to the India-Pakistan duo of Sanju Samson & Sahibzada Farhan. The latter finished as the highest run-getter, while the keeper-batter Samson struck three back-to-back fifties. The number three spot was occupied by Ishan Kishan, who also went on to score over 300 runs in the 2026 edition of the World Cup.

Markram came in at no. 4, while all-rounder Hardik Pandya was included at no. 5. He had an excellent show, where he scored 217 runs and picked up 9 wickets in as matches, showing he is the best in the business. Another all-rounder who made the cut was England’s Will Jacks, who did save them with the bat and the ball, a few times.

No Kiwis, Australians find place

For pacers, somehow they went with West Indian Jason Holder, who picked up 10 wickets in all. Jasprit Bumrah, the highest wicket-taker in the T20 World Cup, was a no-brained of course. Meanwhile, another surprise pick was that of South Africa speedster Lungi Ngidi, who picked 12 wickets in 7 matches.

Adil Rashid was the dedicated leg-spinner, who came up with decent performances for England until the semis. He ended with 13 scalps in 8 matches. Lastly, Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani took the no. 11 spot for his 13 wickets in 6 matches. USA pacer Shadley Van Schalkwyk also found a mention as the 12th man, for picking up 13 wickets in only 4 matches.

ICC Team of the Tournament: Sahibzada Farhan, Sanju Sansom (wicketkeeper), Ishan Kishan, Aiden Markram (captain), Hardik Pandya, Will Jacks, Jason Holder, Jasprit Bumrah, Lungi Ngidi, Adil Rashid, Blessing Muzarabani, Shadley van Schalkwyk
