The film, based on India’s triumph at the 1983 World Cup, stars Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, focuses on how the Indian team beat the odds to change the course of history. The former Indian captain Dev, also shared the trailer on his social media, proudly proclaiming the film as the story of his team.

Sharing the trailer of ’83’ starring Ranveer Singh, Kapil Dev wrote on Instagram: “The story of my team.” Helmed by director Kabir Khan, ’83’ revolves around India’s historical 1983 Cricket World Cup win. The movie features Ranveer Singh as Kapil Dev, captain of the World Cup-winning team.

Pankaj Tripathi has been cast as manager PR Man Singh while Ammy Virk features as Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Saahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani and Tahir Bhasin has been zeroed in to play the role of Sunil Gavaskar in the film. Jiiva, Saqib Saleem, Jatin Sarna, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Dhairya Karwa, R Badree are also a part of the film. Interestingly, Deepika Padukone will be seen playing Romi, Kapil Dev’s wife in ’83’, which will hit the big screen on December 24.
