The Brazilian winger was the target of a lot of racial abuse from the Valencia fans and the game had to be suspended for 10 minutes too. Vinicius Jr was then sent off by the referee as a brawl escalated between the Madrid and Valencia players. Now, it seems as though Vinicius Jr has a red card overturned following racist abuse, and now, Valencia has been hit with five-game stand closure as well. Vinicius Jr. was dismissed against Valencia but will not be required to serve a suspension. Following an altercation between players from the two clubs, the Real Madrid star was given the red card. Vinicius, 22, was expelled after video analysis software revealed that he had elbowed Hugo Duro in the face.
Although the Valencia attacker was not penalized for earlier putting the Brazilian in a headlock. The Real Madrid player declared Spain to be a “country of racists” following the game. In the Mestalla Stadium during his team’s 1-0 loss, he alleged harassment from home fans.

Vinicius Jr Ban Overturned
The RFEF Competition Committee overturned the five-game punishment, thus he will not need to serve it. According to a statement from the Spanish FA, the decision to reverse the red card was taken because VAR did not provide the referee with the complete footage of the event.
The referee was “deprived of a crucial part of the facts,” which made it “impossible for him to properly assess what happened,” according to the statement. On the red card the statement read, ‘However, after viewing the images provided by the VAR, the referee changed his criteria, leaving the yellow card without effect and showing him a red one.’
Additionally, Valencia will be compelled to partially close the Mario Kempes South Stand at the Mestalla Stadium. However, according to Cope, the La Liga team plans to appeal the punishment. Meanwhile, seven people have been arrested in Spain on suspicion of racial abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr and hanging an effigy of the Real Madrid winger from a bridge near the club’s training ground.

In support of the footballer, his native Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, shut off the illumination of the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue on Corvocado. Vinicius posted a picture of the statue bathed in darkness with a statement saying, ‘Black and imposing. Christ the Redeemer was just like that. An action of solidarity that moves me. But I want, above all, to inspire and bring more light to our struggle.’
He continued, ‘I really appreciate all the chain of affection and support I’ve received in the last few months. Both in Brazil and around the world. I know exactly who’s who. Count on me because the good ones are the majority and I won’t give up.’
His ended his statement by saying, ‘I have a purpose in life and if I have to suffer more and more so that future generations don’t go through similar situations, I’m ready and prepared.’
