The current format of the Vijay Hazare Trophy sees the competition divided into six groups, including five elite of six teams each and a plate division. The winners of the five groups progress into the quarter-finals, while the second-placed teams along with the plate division winner will contest in the pre-quarter-finals.

Himachal topped Elite Group A on net run-rate, ahead of Andhra and Vidharba to make the quarter-finals. Tamil Nadu also progressed on a superior net run-rate in a four-way tie, while Karnataka made the pre-quarters after finishing second. Saurashtra and Haryana were the top two teams in Elite Group C, while Elite Group D saw Kerala and Madhya Pradesh progress further.

Kerala, led by Rajasthan Royals superstar Sanju Samson, will take on Elite Group E winners Services in the quarter-finals, while Rajasthan face a stern test against Karnataka in the pre-quarters.

A host of domestic giants crashed out, including defending champions Mumbai, who crumbled in the absence of Prithvi Shaw. Gujarat also struggled in the absence of Priyank Panchal, while Maharashtra, despite the best efforts of leading run-scorer Ruturaj Gaikwad, also had to bow out of the competition.
