Valorant introduces Skirmish: Ascension! Learn about the new 1v1 mode, restricted Agent abilities, and how to unlock FTW ranked rewards starting April 29.

Valorant players can now look forward to a more intense experience with the introduction of VALORANT Skirmish Ascension by Riot Games. The new experimental mode will be available from April 29 until June 22, 2026, where players can look forward to a brand-new 1v1 matchmaking mode, a tightly-curated Agent roster, and ranked matches with rewards.

Valorant Skirmish Ascension: 1v1 Duels and Restricted Loadouts

One can participate in 1v1 battles in addition to the conventional 2v2 matches. To maintain a pure focus on shooting and quick reflexes, the available Agents have been limited. In addition, only one ability from each Agent’s loadout can be utilized per match. Abilities such as Tailwind from Jett, Cyber Cage from Cypher, and Crosscut from Veto are some examples.

Economy management has also been scrapped. Guns are presented based on rounds in the following order: Bandit/Sheriff, Guardian/Bulldog, and finally Vandal/Phantom.

The FTW Ranked Ladder

As per the official blog, the core of this event is its dedicated, external ranking system. The competitive ladder lives completely on the official FTW website. After securely connecting your Riot Games and FTW accounts, your win/loss ratio and opponent skill levels will dictate your climb from Iron all the way to Radiant.

Separate leaderboards are maintained for 1v1 and 2v2 lobbies, divided by region and platform. In the event of a tie among players, the individual with more games played overall is placed higher in the rankings.

Skirmish: Ascension Unlockable Rewards

Grinding the FTW ladder unlocks exclusive cosmetics based on your participation and peak rank. Rewards are distributed as redeemable text codes via the FTW platform’s “Rewards” tab:

  • Play 3 Games: Unlocks the Combat Ready Player Card.
  • Play 15 Games: Unlocks the Trade Me Player Card.
  • Finish Gold to Platinum: Earns the Skirmish Competitor Title.
  • Finish Diamond to Immortal: Earns the Skirmish Expert Title.
  • Finish Radiant: Earns the prestigious Skirmish Legend Title.
