Rafael Nadal, who is the World No.2 last played at the Laver Cup in doubles alongside Roger Federer in what was the Swiss legend’s farewell match. However after playing that game, Nadal withdrew from the tournament to be alongside his wife, who was about to deliver their first child. After becoming a father, Nadal is now set to return to action at the Paris Masters which will kickstart this year from 31st October 2022.
The official social media handle of the Paris Masters released a video of Nadal making his appearance into the practice courts. He was seen The Spaniard landed in Paris on Wednesday. In the video he was seen exchanging rallies with France’s Quentin Halys, who has been handed a wildcard in the competition.
It will be the final Masters 1000 event of the year and will also be the last event before the ATP Finals this season. Nadal last featured in singles on the ATP Tour at the US Open in which he faced fourth round defeat. The Paris Masters will serve as a good preparation for Nadal ahead of the ATP Finals.
The 22-time Grad Slam champion had a terrific season this year in which he won the Australian Open title and the French Open title. However at Wimbledon, he suffered a groin injury and had to pull out of the semifinal contest against Nick Kyrgios. He made his return at Cincinnati ahead of the US Open but wasn’t at his best as he made the fourth round exit from the last Grand Slam event of the year after losing against Frances Tiafoe. Nadal will now look to end the year on a high as he chases his maiden Paris Open title in his career.
