Though Arsenal started the game on a positive and attacking note, the hosts slowly started gathering match pace and looked threatening. Southampton came close to scoring on quite a few occasions but a resilient Ramsdale kept everyone at bay. Arsenal took the lead in the dying minutes of the first half as Jan Bednarek blasted the ball into the net from inside the box.
Arsenal has started the second half quite strongly much like the first half. This time the gunners need to score a goal to equalize and bring the game on level terms. Arsenal has wasted quite a few opportunities to seal the top 4 and have squandered their chances when their opponents like Tottenham and Manchester United have dropped points.
Arsenal huffed and puffed but could not break the Southampton defense down. Granit Xhaka came very close to scoring but a high diving Forster stood as the custodial guardian of the bar post to deny any chances for Arsenal.
