- Sachin Tendulkar’s father Ramesh Tendulkar was a fan of singer Sachin Dev Burman and decided to name his third son Sachin Tendulkar.
- Tendulkar was 10 years old when India won the 1983 World Cup. It was a moment that inspired him to take up cricket .
- When Tendulkar was 14 years old, he wanted to become a fast bowler and even went to the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai. He was however rejected by Dennis Lilee.
- Tendulkar first made a big mark in school cricket, when he, along with Vinod Kambli, built together a record 664-run partnership for his school Sharadashram Vidyamandir. Tendulkar scored 326 runs in the innings.

10. Tendulkar was just 15 years old, when he scored his maiden first-class century in Ranji Trophy. He scored exactly hundred runs and was not out. He became the youngest Indian in first-class cricket to reach the three figures.

11. It was during an Under-15 camp that Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly first met each other. Ganguly revealed during a show that as a 14-year old, Tendulkar was too obsessed with batting in the nets that he had to be dragged out of the nets by the coach saying ‘camp is for others too.’
12. During this time, Ganguly and Tendulkar also were roommates and in the midnnight Tendulkar used to walk around his room, which used to scare Ganguly. It was later revealed that he had this habit of sleep-walking in the night.

14. In 1989, Sachin Tendulkar and Pakistan’s Waqar Younis made their Test debuts for their respective countries in the same Test match.
15. Sachin Tendulkar scored a duck on his ODI debut in 1989 against Pakistan.

21. Tendulkar’s first-ever car was Maruti 800, which he bought after he made his India debut.
22. Tendulkar was the first-ever batsman to be given out by third umpire in 1992. The incident happened during a Test match at Durban when he was caught short of his crease by a throw from Jhonty Rhodes.
23. Tendulkar, who is known for his batting heroics, helped India clinch a famous victory with the ball in his hand in 1993 against South Africa during Hero Cup semi-final. India needed six runs to defend off the last over and Tendulkar bowled a sensational over, giving away just three runs as India qualified for the final.
24. His first century in Indian soil came in the year 1993. It was in a Test match against England at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.

Based on which side the shiny part of the ball is, he will shift his bat on the right or left hand, making the striker aware of it.
32. Sachin Tendulkar had opened the batting only once in Test cricket. It was during the Ahmedabad Test against New Zealand in 1999, where he partnered alongside Sadagopan Ramesh.

33. When Anil Kumble took all the 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan in 1999 at Feroz Shah Kotla, whenever Tendulkar handed over Kumble’s sweater and cap to the umpire, wickets were falling and the duo decided to continue this practice until Kumble took the perfect 10.

38. During 2004, Tendulkar was first diagnosed with an injury to his elbow, which is termed a Tennis Elbow. He underwent a surgery in 2005 but during his recovery period, he couldn’t even pick up a plastic bat and went into depression and thought that his career was over.
39. He however returned back to field in the 2006 DLF Cup in Kuala Lampur against Sri Lanka and went on to score 141 in the ODI game.
