Though the London-based club previously stated that the club will not go for sale, however, things took a sharp turn when Roman Abramovic’s assets were seized and frozen by the British government. This move leaves no option for the Russian owner but to sell his beloved club which he bought in 2003. Abramovic has also reportedly started selling his buildings and villas.

With the threat of sanction looming large on the head of Abramovic, he had handed over the duties of the club to the board of trustees. Reports claim that Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss along with three other potential buyers were offered to buy the club. However, the evaluation of the club has been set at a higher price.
“I and three other people received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich. I have to wait four to five days now. Abramovich is currently asking far too much. You know, Chelsea owe him £2billion. But Chelsea has no money. As of today, we don’t know the exact selling price. I can well imagine starting at Chelsea with partners,” Hansjorg Wyss said.
“But I have to examine the general conditions first. But what I can already say: I’m definitely not doing something like this alone. If I buy Chelsea, then with a consortium consisting of six to seven investors,” Hansjorg Wyss added.
“Abramovich is trying to sell all his villas in England, he also wants to get rid of Chelsea quickly,” Wyss told Swiss newspaper Blick.

“We all agree there are situations much, much more important than football, this will never change. And situations like war are of course so much more important. But the role of Mr Abramovich is not for me to comment on, because I simply don’t know enough about it,” said Thomas Tuchel, Manager of Chelsea FC on being asked by the press about the issue.
“And I even feel bad to repeat it because I never experienced war. So even to talk about it I feel bad because I am very privileged. I sit here in peace and I do the best I can, but you have to stop asking me these questions. I have no answers for you,” a disgusted Tuchel added.
