Often branded as a Test specialist, Cheteshwar Pujara showcased he is very well averse with the shorter formats of the game on Friday. Playing for Sussex in the Royal London Cup, the 34-year-old slammed a fine hundred converting his red ball into white ball cricket.
The Indian veteran peppered the boundary with relative ease, scoring 107 off just 79 balls. Pujara scored at a strike rate of 135.44, hitting seven boundaries and two sixes. Captaining the side, Pujara led from the front in Sussex’s chase of 310, but his side eventually fell short of just four runs.
One of the moments of the game arrived in the 45th over with Pujara broke loose with Sussex needing 70 runs to win off the last six overs. The 34-year-old took a particular liking to Liam Norwell, slamming three fours and a six in his over to bring down the target to a more achievable 48 from 30 balls. Watch the highlights here:
