Shubman Gill: Prithvi Shaw – Not too long ago Prithvi Shaw was the next big thing in Indian cricket, however, the Mumbai batter has had a drastic fall, and now Shubman Gill is considered the future of Indian Cricket due to his stellar performance across formats. Former India cricketer & Gill’s coach Karsan Ghavri feels the GT Opener has worked tirelessly on his batting, while Shaw has not worked one bit. Follow IPL 2023 Live Updates with InsideSport.IN.

The DC opener finished IPL 2023 season with 106 runs scoring just one fifty in eight games, while Gill is the orange cap holder scoring 851 runs in 16 games.

“They were in the same team that won the U-19 World Cup in 2018, right? Today where is Prithvi Shaw, and where is Shubman Gill? They are in two different categories,” Ghavri told The Indian Express.

“Shaw thinks he is a star, and nobody can touch him. But he needs to understand that at the international level, irrespective of whether you are playing T20, 50 over, or the Test match, or even the Ranji Trophy, it takes only one delivery to get you out.

Shubman Gill vs Prithvi Shaw: Ghavri urges Shaw to learn from Gill says ‘DC batter should work on technique and fitness’

In his first six games, Shaw managed to score just 12, 7, 0, 15, 0 & 13, while Gill continued to dazzle in IPL 2023 against all teams, displaying a strong technique and temperament. Not one and two, but the GT opener has scored three centuries in this IPL season, showcasing hunger and an insane amount of consistency.

Ghavri opines Gill has managed to work on his flaws, while Shaw has not worked on them since 2018.

“Shaw thinks he is a star, and nobody can touch him. But he needs to understand that at the international level, irrespective of whether you are playing T20, 50 over or the Test match or even the Ranji Trophy, it takes only one delivery to get you out.

Apart from managing to work on his technique, Shaw also needs to work on fitness, a thing many experts have pointed about his game.
Cricketer-turned-expert Simon Doull blasted Shaw for not working on his glitch since 2018. Doull states that the DC opener is not fit, and for that reason, his paying the price.

“I pointed out the glitch in his batting in 2018, and till now, I can see the same. No change. You can’t continue down the same road. If things aren’t working, you have to change them up, and he has to understand where he is at in his game. It’s just not good enough.

I don’t think he is fit. I don’t think he has really adjusted his game as such, and he has paid the price,” Doull had said on Cricbuzz after Shaw’s lean phase in the early part of the tournament.

Speaking about Shaw, he is currently enjoying a break and attended the IFFA show with his rumored girlfriend Nidhi Taapadia. On the other hand, Gill will play IPL 2023 final against CSK on Sunday, May 28 in Ahmedabad.
