Motorsports is one of the most visually appealing sports that is followed the world over, but it comes with its own risks. One such risk was on full display during the vintage racing event Goodwood Revival, where ex-F1 driver Karun Chandok’s car caught fire.

The incident happened when Chandok was driving at the Goodwood Revival and his car was up in flames. However, he did not panic and displayed tremendous presence of mind to get out of the vehicle unscathed. He made sure that his car went off the track, and evacuated as soon as it stopped.
Once the race was over, the video went viral on social media. His brother Suhail wrote on X, “Scary moment for Karun Chandhok minutes ago in the iconic GTO 🔥 Most importantly just really glad he’s ok but I have to say that save, car control and presence of mind to quickly get it off circuit and onto the grass was IMPRESSIVE👏🏼🫡 We thought we were done with stressful moments as a family of a racing driver but guess that’s the nature of the beast🙏🏽😇.”

Later Chandok wrote, “Lucky to get away with that with nothing more than a melted boot…. Something went bang and seized up the back wheels and sent me spinning. Such a shame to end a race in my dream GT car like that but happy to get out ok!”
