A long tournament like PKL brings in a lot of challenges for the players. Players stay away from their homes for months on the line, adding strain on their mental health. While admitting the pressure, Singh added that much of the focus goes on being fit and available for the tournament.

Maninder revealed, “After the PKL, we take a week-long break and go home. Other than that, year-round, we are training, going to the grounds practising and working on our fitness. If there are any injuries, then rest and rehabilitation.”

He added, “We focus on fitness, the more fit we are, the more we can play in the PKL. The addition of physios and trainers have helped a lot. They give us valuable input which helps us get better on the pitch.”
