Sunrisers to target Ben Stokes?
The Orange Army released their skipper Kane Williamson ahead of the IPL mini auction. SRH has INR 42.25 crore in its purse. They are likely to target Ben Stokes for the leading the side in the upcoming auction. SRH also has the option of giving the captaincy to Aiden Markram. The Proteas batting mainstay has previously led the South Africa national team in absence of Faf du Plessis. He also led the South Africa U-19 to the ICC U-19 World Cup in 2014. Markram might also be leading the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the upcoming inaugural edition of the SA20 League.

- After a bidding war with Punjab and Mumbai, SRH managed to avail his services for INR 2.60 crore.
- Markram was one of the top run-scorer for the Orange Army.

- Overall, he has played 20 IPL games so far and amassed 527 runs.
- Markram averages 40.54 in the toughest franchise-based league.
- Not only his average, but he plays at an excellent strike rate of 134.1.

CSK to purchase Kane Williamson for the captaincy role?
With MS Dhoni set to play his final IPL season, the Yellow Army must be tinkering of purchasing a player who can lead the four-time IPL champions in near future. The CSK team management might want to bag the services of NewZealand skipper Kane Williamson and hand over him the captaincy once Dhoni retires from IPL. To note, CSK has INR 20.45 crore in its kitty and the Yellow Army might need to spend a decent chunk of amount to grab Williamson in the auction.

RCB to look for the captaincy alternatives
- With Virat Kohli stepping down from the captaincy role, RCB named Faf du Plessis as their new skipper.
- The Red Army reached the eliminator last season under the Du Plessis, but yet again failed to clinch the IPL trophy.
- Du Plessis is unlikely to continue in the IPL after the upcoming season.
- RCB needs to plan ahead and they might be targeting some senior players in the auction to make the changes in the leadership role.
- To note, Kohli had earlier stated that he won’t be leading the Red Army anymore.
