With a new captain (Shikhar Dhawan) and coach (Trevor Bayliss), Punjab Kings could go to the auction with a lot of money. As per Cricbuzz, the new-coach Bayliss is keen on roping in two among Stokes, Green, and Curran. While players like Mayank, Shahrukh, and Odean could be left off by PBKS.
The great buzz surrounding the IPL 2023 auction is Stokes’ apparent enthusiasm after passing on the mega auction earlier this year. Despite the fact that the Ashes series immediately follows the T20 league in the summer of 2023, he appears to be interested in participating in the IPL.

Sam Curran and Cameron Green, to name a couple, are likely to appear in the auction if the availability aspect were to be ignored. Both are currently competing in ICC T20 World Cup 2022. Due to an injury, Curran was unable to participate in the last auction.
IPL 2023 Auction: Shikhar Dhawan to lead Punjab Kings in IPL
The poor show from Punjab Kings in IPL 2022 meant, the team is once again going through an overhaul. Mayank Agarwal has been replaced as the captain of the Punjab Kings by Shikhar Dhawan.
Dhawan in recent times has also led the Indian team in several ODI and T20I series. Dhawan last captained India against South Africa in a three-match One-Day International series. Dhawan, who has more experience as a captain than Mayank, would be a wise choice for Punjab.
As of latest, South Africa bowling coach Charl Langeveldt alongside Brad Haddin has joined chief coach Trevor Bayliss as part of the support staff of Punjab Kings (PBKS).
Anil Kumble had previously been fired as the team’s head coach, and Jonty Rhodes had also been removed. Only franchise physio Andrew Leipus has made it through the revamp.
