The IPL 2022 Mega Auction is scheduled to take place in Bangalore on the 12th and 13th of February while the main tournament is tentatively scheduled to commence from Match 27, 2022. As per the new rules of the auction, a total of 4 players could be retained by each team, thus a huge list of players had to be released by all the teams. CSK retained MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Moeen Ali, and Ruturaj Gaikwad for IPL 2022.

Faf du Plessis: The Proteas batter needs no introduction for anyone. Du Plessis had an outstanding season in IPL 2021 where he scored a whopping 633 runs in 16 innings with a brilliant average of 45.21. After such an exceptional season MS Dhoni and Co would be desperate to retain the 37-year-old batter.
Dwayne Bravo: Despite not being as young, Dwayne Bravo has performed really well in the previous edition of IPL 2021. In 11 innings he scalped 14 wickets and maintained a brilliant average of 18.78. The 38-year-old even came in handy with the bat as he scored 47 runs with an average of 47.00. With other teams eager to swoop this superstar, Dhoni would try his best to retain this Caribbean player.

Shardul Thakur: Shardul Thakur has been a regular starter for the Indian National team and has consistently performed in the IPL. His best stint came in IPL 2021 where he picked 21 wickets in 16 innings with an average of 25.09. The rest of the 9 teams would be desperate to buy the 30-year-old bowler to bolster their bowling attack and thus it could prove to be tough for MS Dhoni to retain Thakur.
Josh Hazlewood: Despite playing few games in comparison to others in last year’s IPL, the 31-year-old pacer picked 11 wickets in just 9 innings with a good average of 26.63. MS Dhoni and CSK would want to acquire the services of this speedster and would try their best to restrict other teams to buy this player.
Lungi Ngidi: The 25-year-old South African pace bowler is one of the best of his generation.
