The team has today opted to rest instead of practice before the Super 12 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 gets up and running later this week. India will open their T20 WC campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on October 23. On Thursday, prior to the World Cup match against Pakistan, Bharat Army posted a video of the Indian players arriving in Melbourne. The team captain, Rohit Sharma was seen cutting a cake. And the other players including Ravichandran Ashwin, Suryakumar Yadav, and Rishabh Pant also took photographs with the fans at the airport.

“A warm Bharat Army welcome for @ImRo45  and the rest of #TeamIndia Best of luck lads, we will be with you all the way!” they wrote on Twitter.

After nearly one year, Rohit Sharma and company will take on Babar Azam’s Pakistan to reignite the age-old rivalry. India will square off against Pakistan in their tournament opener of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup on October 23, 2022.

Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy, India won the inaugural T20I WC in 2007. The team will try to replicate that magic in an effort to bring the cherished trophy back to India from Australia.

The eighth ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is set to be the biggest and the best yet, with 16 teams playing 45 matches in seven Australian cities between 16 October and 13 November.

Seven venues across Australia will be used in total during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022, with the Melbourne Cricket Ground hosting the final and the semi-finals set to be played at Adelaide Oval and the Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Gabba in Brisbane, Kardinia Park in Geelong, Bellerive Oval in Hobart, and Perth Stadium are the other host venues.
