The 26-year-old Sukhjeet, who was part of the World Cup squad in January, scored in the 31st and 42nd minutes. Both his goals came from field efforts.
The match started off on a even note with both the teams making repeated penetrations in the opposition halves. The Germans got penalty corner opportunities early in the game. However the team with several players of their World Cup-winning team, struggled to score. The first quarter ended in a 0-0 stalemate.
In the second-quarter, India earned a PC and skipper Haramanpreet Singh slotted into the net to give the hosts lead in the 30th minute. The goal also made the skipper top the goal-scoring charts as he has now netted seven times in the league. Harmanpreet’s goal helped the hosts end first-half with a lead.

As soon as the third quarter began, Sukjeet Singh deflected a pass straight into the net from Jarmanpreet Singh, who hit from well outside the D. The goal put Germany on the backfoot and India built on the momentum as Sukhjit yet again struck 11 minutes later.
Manpreet Singh passed into the striking circle from the midfield and Selvam Karthi, with the keeper running towards him, managed to pass it to Sukhjeet, who yet again slotted in the goal to triple India’s lead.
Germany however managed to net a goal towards the end of the third quarter. With the score at 1-3, Germany came back well in the final quarter. Michel Struthoff managed to score with just two minutes left as the visitors built pressure on the Indians. Indians however kept the German attackers at bay and got a rare penalty stroke opportunity. Skipper Harmanpreet SIngh fumbled in the attempt. However they ensured a 3-2 win and earned three points.
