After the Men in Blue made it past the group stage having won four of their five groups, they have knocked Great Britain out of the Tokyo Olympics in the quarterfinals stage. They will now face Belgium in the semi-finals. Dilpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh, and Hardik Singh all put their names on the scoresheet to help India win this amazing quarterfinals clash. India suffered a humiliating 7-1 loss at the hands of Australia, but have since bounced back in style, winning three games on the trot, including a 4-1 success over defending champions Argentina. Great Britain will be a tough nut to crack for the Men in Blue, who impressively drew 2-2 against 2-2 against favorites and world champions Belgium.
The 1988 Seoul champions have won three games in their group, but knockouts will be a different ball game and the game could potentially be decided by which team warms up to the occasion more.
As per ANI, India’s Chief Coach Graham Reid after the game against Japan said, “We really tried playing at a much higher tempo tonight, trying to get on the tempo that we are going to need on Sunday. I think we mixed that up pretty well and played a controlled game. Good to get a couple of field goals, created a lot of opportunities, but I think we still need to get better at those outcomes in the circle.”
