IND vs SL ODI: Will Axar be a sure starter in the ODI team with Sundar and Chahal – Axar is finally living up to the expectations of the team by contributing with bat and ball. Also, the southpaw bailed India out in two difficult situations with bat and ball. On current form, the all-rounder might get a nod. Dropping Sundar will be an injustice though. The off-spinner was India’s lone bright star in the ODI series losses to New Zealand and Bangladesh.
Sundar scored his maiden ODI fifty and kept things tight by maintaining an economy rate of below seven runs per over. Chahal is likely to keep his place owing to his good form and leg spin angle. Head coach Rahul Dravid is pleased with Axar’s performance and lavished praise by saying, “I think in T20 cricket, whenever he has got the opportunity, he’s done really well so, that’s really a good sign for us.
People like him, people like Washi not getting a game, he’s batting really well, and obviously, Jadeja coming back (soon) as well gives us nice little (options) in that spin-bowling all-rounder area.”

· Chahal and Sundar have performed well in India’s last six ODI games.
· Both spinners bowled well in tandem and did not let the game drift.
· India will play three pacers plus Hardik as the all-rounder. It leaves with only two spinners in the playing XI.
· It is highly unlikely India will play three spinners against the Lankans, who are good players of spin.
· For now, Axar holds the edge owing to his good performance in the T20Is.
