IND AUS Ahmedabad Test LIVE: Australia have been dealt a blow before the start of Day 5 in the Ahmedabad Test. Opener and centurion Usman Khawaja is doubtful with a leg injury. With Australia still trailing by 88 runs on final day, India are sniffing an unlikely victory. Khawaja will undergo a fitness test ahead of Day 5 to understand whether he will bat at all in IND vs AUS 4th Test. Australia sent Matthew Kuhnemann to open with Travis Head late on Day 4. “He’s being assessed. So he’ll be in the nets this morning and we’ll work out his functionality. It’s looking positive at this stage but we’ve got a little bit to work through,” Andrew McDonald said on Usman Khawaja on Day 5.
Khawaja hurt his left leg while fielding on Day 4. He limped off with the help of team physio and did not return. An Australia team spokesperson later informed media that Khawaja had left leg soreness and nothing was conclusive at that point.

How did Usman Khawaja get injured? – It was during India’s innings when Khawaja attempted to catch Axar Patel off Todd Murphy, he jarred his left knee. It is the same knee which he severely injured back in 2018.
As India ended their innings for 571/9, Khawaja was taken for further scans for a possible tibia injury. A report is awaited. Australia ended Day 4 at 3/0 with Travis Head and Matt Kuhnemann surviving an early spin ordeal.
India surpassed Australia’s mammoth 480-run total with a wicket short. Virat Kohli slammed his first Test ton in over 1200 days while Shubman Gill scored his maiden Test ton at home. With Axar Patel hammering 79, India posted 571/9. But they too are without Shreyas Iyer who is out of the Test with a lower back injury.
