The DRS was first used in an ICC Women’s T20 World Cup event in 2018. The technology was subsequently used in the 2020 edition as well. The ICC has confirmed that it will be available for all the matches in the upcoming event. Each team can use up to two reviews per innings during the matches.
The usual DRS services including ball tracking and edge detection will be provided. Players can utilise it to challenge the on-field umpire’s decision. It is also announced that the Spidercam will be used only during the semi-finals and the final.
ICC has also released their commentary panel for the upcoming event. Mithali Raj headlines the list. She is set to make her commentary debut in an ICC event. “I am really looking forward to my time in the commentary box for the T20 World Cup. There is a lot of anticipation for this tournament in India and I am sure in other parts of the world too,” she said.
