The India women’s cricket team has started its preparations for the Women’s ODI World Cup 2025. Fresh from a successful England tour, the home team is looking for ultimate glory. With 47 days left for the tournament to begin, the Women in Blue are in the last stages of readiness.
India prepares for Women’s ODI World Cup at NCA
About 10 days after beating England 2-1 in the ODI series, Team India checked into the Centre of Excellence (formerly the National Cricket Academy) in Bengaluru for a 10-day preparatory camp. The objective was to work on strength and conditioning, enhance fitness, and fine-tune skills for the task ahead.
As the home team, India will be the favourites alongside Australia. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur had addressed the weight of expectations and how special it’ll feel playing at home as India looks to win their maiden ICC trophy.
“Playing in front of a home crowd is always special, and hopefully this time we’ll give our 100 per cent and finally break the barrier that all Indian fans have been waiting for. World Cups are special, and I always want to do something special for my country,” Harmanpreet had said at the 50-day countdown launch.
The scheduling will be of help to India. In mid-September, Australia will travel to India for a 3-match ODI series. In the week before playing the ODI World Cup opener against Sri Lanka, India will play two warm-up matches against England (September 25) and New Zealand (September 27). All in all, India couldn’t have asked for better preparations.
The deadline for announcing the squad is August 30, and one doubts whether there will be a lot of changes from how it looked against England.
