Players are not robots: Pat Cummins defends under fire team in IND vs AUS T20 series

Pat Cummins said that Australian players are not up to their 100% in the ongoing IND vs AUS T20 series.

After facing defeats in the first two IND vs AUS T20 fixtures, Australia’s ODI World Cup winning captain Pat Cummins has defended his side. Pat Cummins said that cricketers are “not robots” as his side are currently struggling in the ongoing IND vs AUS T20 series. As many as seven of the Australia squad who won the World Cup remained in India for a five-match T20 series that started four days after the November 19 final.

They are not at 100%: Cummins

“They’re humans, they’re not robots,” Pat Cummins told reporters at the Sydney Cricket Ground. “Putting everything into a World Cup and then playing a couple of days later — I probably don’t begrudge them if they’re not at 100 percent.”

Pat Cummins also said that there are still matches remaining in the ongoing IND vs AUS series and it is a good opportunity for the young cricketers. “These are still games for Australia and it’s great that these tours do provide opportunities for some of the younger guys, or guys who might not be in the first eleven. I think these are important tours and you can get a lot out of them,” Cummins added.

Skipper Pat Cummins said that Australian players-led by Matthew Wade are not up to their 100% in the ongoing IND vs AUS T20 series.

As many as six members from the World Cup winning squad will be rested for the last three IND vs AUS T20s. Following the third T20I in Guwahati, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis and Sean Abbott are scheduled to return to Australia. As a result, the likes of Ben McDermott, Josh Philippe, and Chris Green have been called as reinforcements to relieve the flagging World Cup heroes.

The third IND vs AUS T20 match will be played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on November 28 (Tuesday). The home side will look to win the third match in Assam and clinch the series as well. On the other hand, a depleted Australian side will look to stage a comeback on Tuesday.
