Namibia confirm ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 qualification

Namibia confirmed their spot in the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 after they defeated Tanzania on November 28 in the Africa region qualifier.

Namibia Cricket team have confirmed their ticket at the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Namibia on Tuesday defeated Tanzania by a margin of 58 runs in the ongoing ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier 2023. Led by Gerhard Erasmus, the associate nation has won five out of five games in the T20 World Cup qualification. As a result, they have secured their place at the upcoming T20 WC to be played in West Indies and the United States of America (USA) in June 2024.

Namibia are at top of the points table

The T20 World Cup Africa Region Qualifier has a total of seven teams including Namibia, Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Nigeria. Namibia are currently at the top of the points table with ten points in their bank. They have an excellent net run rate (NRR) is 2.643 and they are the only unbeaten side in the competition thus far.

Namibia won their first match of tournament against Zimbabwe by seven wickets. They went on to thrash Uganda by six wickets and also eased past Rwanda by 68 runs (DLS method) in their second and third match. Erasmus and Co. then continued their merry way after smashing Kenya by six wickets before routing Tanzania at the Wanderers Cricket Ground in Windhoek.

Meanwhile, heavyweights in the tournament, Zimbabwe find themselves in a tough spot to qualify for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Led by Sikandar Raza, ZIM lost their first match against Namibia. However, they made a decent comeback against Tanzania. However, Zimbabwe hopes were jolted big time after they were defeated by Uganda recently.
