The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the pitch for the Cape Town Test between India and South Africa “unsatisfactory”.
India defeated South Africa well inside two days to win the shortest Test match in history. Newlands in Cape Town hosted a Test match which lasted only 642 balls. Mohammed Siraj picked 6 for 15 in the first innings as South Africa were bowled out for 55.
In response, India scored 153 before the Proteas folded for 176 in the second innings, leaving India 79 to win and draw the two-Test series.

The ICC match referee Chris Broad, in his report said the Newlands pitch was indeed difficult to bat on.
“The pitch in Newlands was very difficult to bat on,” Broad said. “The ball bounced quickly and sometimes alarmingly throughout the match, making it difficult to play shots. Several batters were hit on the gloves and many wickets also fell due to the awkward bounce.”
