Australia A women’s cricket team cliched a dominating 6-wicket win against India A women in the one-off unofficial Test in Brisbane. The hosts chased down the 281-run target set by the visitors with ease, with Maddy Darke and Anika Learoyd top scoring for the side. The game marked the end of India A Women’s tour to Australia where they were whitewashed in the T20I series but bounced back with a 2-1 win in the unofficial ODIs.
Australia A women beat India in unofficial Test
Batting first in the contest, India A women suffered two early blows in the 1st innings as Nandini Kashyap and Dhara Gujjar were dismissed for ducks. It did not take too long before Tejal Hasabnis (9) and Shafali Verma (35) were sent packing, triggering a collapse. It was then Raghvi Bist (93) who saved the day for India but she narrowly missed out on a century. Eventually, India A Women were bowled out for 299 runs.
A 103-run knock from Sianna Ginger propelled Australia A Women to 305 runs in their 1st innings, allowing the hosts to gain a slender 6-run lead. Saima Thakor picked up 3 wickets while Radha Yadav and Minnu Mani picked up two wickets each.
Shafali’s 52-run knock and Raghvi’s 86 wasn’t enough in the 2nd innings as India A Women were bowled out for 286 runs. Despite the top six batters managing to score double digit knocks, the lower order and the tailenders failed to survive and were sent packing cheaply.
Australia’s top 4 outperformed India A Women as Rachel Trenaman (64), Tahila Wilson (46), Darke (68) and Anika (72) led the team to an easy 6-wicket win over India A Women. Once again, it was Saima Thakor who stood out for India with the ball as she picked up two wickets.
