MI batter Suryakumar Yadav is all set to feature in MI’s game vs RCB on May 10, as per a report in Cricbuzz. Speculation was rife, that the India skipper could miss the clash, after he became a father just a few days back. But then, it is all but confirmed, that he will play in the Raipur match.
Suryakumar Yadav in RCB vs MI match
In fact, Surya is expected to reach the next venue — Raipur, shortly. While it remains to be seen if Hardik Pandya would be available or not, and if SKY will lead the team, just like the May 4 match. The latter had sat out due to back spasms, against LSG. Talking about Pandya, he needs to get clearances from Ben Langley, the head of sports medicine at MI, and Nitin Patel, the physio.
He underwent fitness test on Friday, and will undergo another one on Saturday. As far as the duo’s performance this year is concerned, they have been poor to say the least. Surya has scored 195 runs in 10 matches, at an average of 19.5. Pandya 246 to his name and average is only 20. In addition, he has picked only 4 wickets.
MI lagging behind in IPL 2026
On the other hand, this has been a poor IPL 2026 campaign for MI, who are in 9th spit currently, and have won only 3 matches out of 10 played. With four matches remaining, they would have to win all four, to reach 14 points. Typically, a teams needs 16 points to qualify for the playoffs, but sometimes, even 14 does the trick. MI would hope for one such miracle now, to stay in the hunt. Whereas a loss would just leave them stranded.
What has even been a bigger problem for MI is, someone like a Jasprit Bumrah has failed big time. In 10 matches, he has only picked 3 wickets, which is unheard of, and contributed massively in the downfall of the team.
