The Lucknow T20I was abandoned due to extreme weather conditions. Shubman Gill might be out of the India vs South Africa series. Gautam Gambhir has been accused of biased selections. Suryakumar Yadav’s fall continues. Yashasvi Jaiswal had to be checked into the hospital. And why will MS Dhoni retire after IPL 2026?

Smog wins in Lucknow
The India vs South Africa 4th T20I was abandoned without a ball being bowled. The toss was delayed five times before the match was called off due to ‘excessive fog’. The AQI in Lucknow was over 400, and one couldn’t even see the other end of the stadium.

Shubman Gill suffers another injury
Although the match couldn’t go ahead, had it happened, Shubman Gill wouldn’t have played. The Indian vice-captain had injured his toe in the nets on the eve of the match. At this moment, Gill isn’t certain to play the last T20I in Ahmedabad, as the medical staff keeps a keen eye on him.

Dhoni to mentor CSK?
Robin Uthappa thinks that IPL 2026 will be MS Dhoni’s last season. The former CSK opener thinks buying Kartik Sharma, a wicketkeeper batter, for INR 14.20 crore hints at the 5-time champions thinking about their future after Dhoni. Uthappa reckons that Dhoni might come as a mentor-cum-player in IPL 2026.

Gambhir’s selections questioned
Manoj Tiwary has accused Gautam Gambhir of backing certain players under the guise of transition. The former KKR player was specifically talking about Shubman Gill, who hasn’t been performing well in T20Is since displacing Sanju Samson as India’s opener. Manoj stated that if India wants to defend their T20 World Cup title, they must take bold decisions like dropping Gill.

Jaiswal taken to hospital
Yashasvi Jaiswal was rushed to the hospital after the Mumbai vs Rajasthan match in SMAT ended. The opener complained of severe stomach pain soon after the game and was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis, following which he was administered intravenous medication. Jaiswal has been advised to rest along with continued medication.

SKY falls in ICC ranking
Suryakumar Yadav has slipped down to number 10 in the ICC’s latest T20I batting ranking. If his willow doesn’t talk in Ahmedabad against South Africa, he could leave the top ten for the first time since July 2022. Meanwhile, Tilak Varma jumped to number four, while Abhishek Sharma remains at the top.
