Mukesh Choudhary played Chennai Super Kings' last IPL 2026 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

You can prepare as much as you want but when life gives you adversities, you don’t have any other option but to face them. Mukesh Choudhary, who readied himself for a big Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has faced a huge setback in his personal life. The left-arm pacer lost his mother, Prem Devi, due to a prolonged disease.

Mukesh, who played Chennai’s last game against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and even took two prized wickets of Travis Head and Ishan Kishan, could’ve easily started tonight’s mega IPL clash between CSK and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium. However, he had to leave CSK’s camp on Tuesday to visit his family in this desperate time.

Mukesh Choudhary obviously set to miss MI vs CSK match

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team arrived in Mumbai on Monday to prepare for their clash against arch-rivals Mumbai. Mukesh, part of the team, also travelled. Incidentally, his mother was also admitted to Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai, as she had been unwell for over a year.

However, when Mukesh got the unfortunate news, he left for Bhilwara along with his brother Dr Rajesh. Mukesh performed his mother’s last rites and lit the funeral pyre in his maternal town, “Garhwalon ka khera”.

As per a report by OneIndia, MS Dhoni has been in continuous contact with Mukesh, who will certainly miss the MI vs CSK clash. Predominantly a new-ball bowler, Mukesh is supposed to have a much deeper role for CSK, especially after Khaleel Ahmed’s tournament-ending injury. Although there are Gurjapneet Singh and Spencer Johnson as left-arm options, Mukesh’s experience of previously having done well for CSK would’ve played a part. However, it is unknown when he will rejoin the CSK camp.
