Stokes has been dealing with too many injuries off late, despite playing just one format of the game. First, he missed a series against Sri Lanka in 2024 due to a hamstring injury. The same injury recurred in December 2024 during the series against New Zealand. As shoulder injury in 2025 saw him miss the 5th Test against India.

The England captain has down quite some heavylifting for the side in the ongoing Ashes series. He is the second most overworked bowler from the side in the series, having bowled 101.1 overs. England have already lost the Ashes in a record 11 days and now are plaing for pride.
