Shubman Gill was born on September 8, 1999, and has emerged as a promising talent in cricket. Primarily a top-order batsman, Gill made his international debut for India in January 2019 in a One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand. However, he garnered widespread recognition for his performances in Test cricket.

Gill’s Test debut took place in December 2020 during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. His elegant batting style, solid technique, and composure under pressure played a pivotal role in India’s historic series win. Gill’s notable innings showcased his ability to handle the pace and bounce of international cricket at a young age.

Gill, a right-handed top-order batsman from Punjab, gained recognition for his ability to score substantial runs, leading to his selection as the vice-captain for the 2018 Under-19 World Cup. Before making his mark on the international stage, Gill debuted in first-class cricket for Punjab in the Ranji Trophy in late 2017, showcasing his talent with a half-century and an attacking 129 in successive matches. Constantly playing at higher age-group levels, Gill’s remarkable performances included a record-breaking 351 in Punjab’s Inter-District Under-16 tournament and an unbeaten double-century in his Under-16 state debut. His prolific contributions earned him BCCI awards for the best junior cricketer in 2013-14 and 2014-15. Representing the national Under-19 side, Gill excelled in both home and English conditions, solidifying his reputation as a talented and consistent batsman.

Gill is a key player for the Ahmedabad franchise in the Indian Premier League.
