The tension between Fury and Jones was ignited when Fury responded to remarks made by UFC commentator Joe Rogan. The UFC commentator stated that Jones would easily triumph over Fury. Which led Fury to insult Rogan and assert his own ability to defeat Jones.
After which in a recent interview with SportBible, UFC President stated, “Tyson can talk, Jon Jones can talk, I can talk, we can all talk. Let’s do it. If Tyson’s serious and he wants to do it—I got Floyd Mayweather to fight. We paid Floyd and got Floyd the number he wanted. If Tyson Fury is serious and he wants to fight Jon Jones in the UFC, let’s start talking.”
Chael Sonnen has responded to White’s recent statement and posted a video on his YouTube channel. While Sonnen appreciates White’s willingness to allow Fury to compete in the UFC, he expressed disappointment at his recent comments. Fury had proclaimed himself the “Baddest man of boxing” and suggested that if Jones wants to fight him, it should be in a boxing ring, not the UFC.
According to Chael Sonnen, a talking head in the industry, he feels that the potential fight between Tyson Fury and Jon Jones in the UFC is simply a move that has been approved by the boss without much substance behind it. Sonnen expressed his disappointment that Dana White didn’t suggest a boxing match instead of a fight in the UFC, which would have made much bigger news.
