The game started off with both the players involved in a good fight. The Indian pair managed to pip over their opponents to enter the break with a 11-9 lead. The Indians continue to maintain their lead in the second-half of the first game despite a tough fought from the Japanese pair. But from 17-15, The Indian pair took the next three points on the trot to get to 20-15 with five game points. The Indians then struggled to close out the game as they conceded the next five points and the Japanese pair levelled the scores 20-20. They then held their nerves to take 22-21 lead and finally closed out the game as the Japanese opponents made an error.
The second game too was closely contested as the Japanese pair were eager to take the contest into the deciding game. When the scores were 7-7, they upped their game to notch up three successive points and entered the break with a 11-8 lead. Chirag Shetty and Satwik managed to make a comeback in the second half as they levelled the scores 15-15 after getting three successive points. From then on, head-to-head battle ensued and from 18-18, the Indian pair notched up the next three points to seal the contest 21-18.
Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will take on Choi Sol Gyu and Kim Won Ho of South Korea in the semi-finals of the BWF French Open 2022.
