In a match that lasted 45 minutes, the world number 8 Indian pair played out an attacking game to outwit their Korean opponents, who were are ranked 18th in the World. In the first ever contest between both the pair, the Indian pair were dominating right from the start. However the Koreans gave a good fight as they managed to level the scores 7-7 in the first game. But the Indians ensured they didn’t allow their opponents to take the lead as they raced to a 11-7 lead to enter the break.
After the break the Koreans managed to make a comeback as they took a 16-13 lead, but the higher-ranked Indians showcased their class as they soon managed to take a 19-18 lead and a couple of errors from teh Koreans gave them the first game 21-18.
The Indians continued to lead in the second game. They quickly moved to a 7-4 lead but the Koreans continiued their fight and Chirag Shetty hit a superb smash to give themselves a 11-9 lead by the end of first half of the game. From then on, it was the Indians who had the upper hand in the contest with a brilliant display as they took 18-12 lead. Soon they got to the match point and Chirag unleashed a body smash on his opponents to seal the contest in straight games.
