The 37th edition of the National Games will be held in Goa this year from 26th October. Over 10,000 athletes from all the states and Union Territories are set to participate in the multi-sport event. For the first-time, the tournament will feature a record number of 43 sports. This will be the second successive year that the multi-sport event will be held. Gujarat was the host for the last edition in 2022.

Goa will host the National Games for the first time. The state was originally awarded the hosting rights back in 2016. However numerous delays saw a seven-year sabbatical to the event. Gujarat finally hosted it in 2022.
Sporting events in National Games 2023
The IOA has announced that the upcoming Games will have a record number of 43 sporting events. Sports like Football, Gold, Roll ball, Sepaktakraw, Kalaripayattu will make debut in the event. Meanwhile, Yachting and Taekwondo will be making its return after being excluded last year.
Traditional sports like Yogasana and Mallakhamb made its debut last year and have retained the place in the upcoming edition as well. Meanwhile Lagor and Gatka have been included as demonstration sports.
National Games 2023 – Venues
The sporting events will be held across multiple venues throughout Goa. Campal multipurpose indoor stadium will play host to sports like netball, table tennis and kabaddi. The Bambolim Athletic Stadium will host all the Athletic events and also Rugby.
Some of the other venues include SPM indoor stadium in Bambolim. According to The Goan, The ‘Hawaii beach’ in Dona Paula will host competition in rowing (coastal/tidal) and yachting. Miramar beach will host beach handball, beach volleyball and mini-golf. However New Delhi will play host to Cycling events and Golf.
When will the National Games 2023 take place?
The National Games 2023 will be hosted by Goa. The tournament will begin from 26th October and will end on 9th November.

The National Games 2023 is likely to be broadcast on the DD Sports TV channel in India. Prasar Bharati YouTube channel will also be streaming it in India.
