Abhay Singh has made the right noise at the recently concluded Asian Games. He grabbed the headlines by playing an instrumental role in helping the Indian Men’s team win the gold medal by defeating Pakistan in a nail-biting final. He did not stop after his heroic feat against Pakistan as he went on to add one more medal to his tally by winning the bronze in Mixed Doubles alongside Anahat Singh.
While he got the job done on the court for his team and for himself, off it he is still helping out his young Mixed Doubles partner Anahat Singh. He is helping the 15-year old by doing the school drop-off and pick-up duty, proving us why he is a best team man. He shared a recent pic of him carrying the school bag of the 15-year old Anahat on his social media account.

Abhay Singh at the Asian Games
Abhay Singh and Anahat Singh, both featured in the Asian Games for the first time in their career. Playing in the Mixed Doubles, the young duo made it to the semifinal, where they lost to Malaysia’s Mohammad Kamal and Aifa Azman to settle for bronze. Meanwhile their compatriots Dipika Pallikal and Harinder Sandhu went on to win the gold medal.
Earlier in the men’s team event, it was all down to Abhay Singh in the final. He was playing the third game after the scores were level 1-1. Playing against Noor Zaman the game went down the wire.
In a nail-biting five-setter, Abhay held his nerves and saved two gold medal points to deliver the final blow on Pakistan. He emerged as a hero leading India to a gold medal finish. The victory also showed signs of a potential leader in Abhay, who could lead the next-gen in Indian Squash as trialblazers Saurav Ghoshal, Dipika Pallikal and Joshana Chinnappa are in the twilight of their careers.

“Killing myself till my last breath…..”
Abhay Singh had shared a heartfelt note that night following his Asian Games medal winning show. He first dedicated the medal to 1.4 billion Indians by stating, “for my 1.4 billion Indians, all the sacrifices and work we put in is for you. Me killing myself till my last breath last night, that one was so that we could stand there and hear our national anthem and see our flag fly high. The proudest moment for an Indian athlete, this medal is yours as much as it is mine.”
Being the quintessential team man that he is, he gave the credit to his teammates. “This was for the boys and girls who looked me in the eyes through that whole match and pushed me to the finish line. My corner was the reason I won that night. Harry, Mahesh and Saurav that one was for you.”
He further went on to appreciate his opponent Noor Zaman by stating, “To Noor – keep your head up and well done on making your family and country proud. You’re 19 and have a long way to go. We’ll go at it again in 2026 and I look forward to that.”
