Asian Archery Championships: Aditi-Priyansh duo reach semis in compound Mixed team

Indian compound mixed team of Aditi Swami and Priyansh stay in the medal hunt at the Asian Archery Championships

The Indian compound mixed team of Aditi Swami and Priyansh reached the semifinals at the Asian Archery Championships on Wednesday, 8th November 2023. With the win, the duo stay in the medal hunt in the tournament that is being held in Bangkok, Thailand.

Aditi Swami and Priyansh defeated Iran 158-151 in the quarterfinal to reach the last-four stage. Earlier, the Indian pair finished on top in the qualification and with the result, they received a bye in the first round.

The semifinals were scheduled to be held on the same day. However heavy rains and thunderstorms meant that the semifinal has been postponed.

However in the recurve Mixed Doubles, Ankita Bhakat and Dhiraj Bommadevara, lost to Japan with a scoreline of 4-5 in a closely contested match decided by a shootout.

Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai enter fourth round

In recurve individual competitions, B. Dhiraj and Tarundeep Rai, among men and Bhajan Kaur and Tisha Punia, among women entered the fourth round.

Dhiraj Bommadevara received two byes in the singles and began his campaign in the third round. He defeated Tai Yu Hsuan 6-4 to advance to the fourth round. Tarundeep Rai dominated against Japan’s Saito Funia with a clinical 7-1 victory.

In the Women’s Recurve, Bhajan Kaur sailed past UAE’s Alyaa Saleh Abdella Al-Ali 7-1. Meanwhile in an all-Indian clash, Tisha Punia defeated Ankita Bhakat 7-3 to proceed to the next round.
