Even though it has been less than a month since IPL 2026 concluded, trade talks and rumours have already picked up momentum, with the first trade of the next season being officially confirmed. After enduring two sub-par seasons with LSG, IPL’s highest-paid star Rishabh Pant will return to Delhi Capitals. On the other hand, CSK have denied being in talks with MI over a trade for Hardik Pandya, who has also had a bad couple of seasons. Apart from the trade rumours, teams have also begun introspection after the last season and are making changes to their support staff while also charting the route for the future. Rishabh Pant-Kuldeep Yadav trade
Rishabh Pant is set to return to Delhi Capitals after a gap of two years, while Kuldeep Yadav will go to Lucknow Super Giants. The southpaw has taken a pay cut after two miserable seasons, and has been traded to DC for a sum of Rs 15 crore. Meanwhile, LSG have secured the services of Kuldeep for Rs 13.5 crore. Is everything fine between Stokes, Baz?
England head coach Brendon McCullum addressed the media in Nottingham on speculations of a rift between him and Ben Stokes ahead of the ENG vs NZ 3rd Test. For the last few days, reports have emerged that Stokes wasn’t pleased with McCullum, because he didn’t back during the investigation into the nightclub incident involving the all-rounder and Gus Atkinson. Maiden India call-up for Shedge
BCCI announced Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge as the replacement for Nitish Kumar Reddy for India’s upcoming white-ball tour of Ireland and England. On Tuesday, reports emerged that Nitish had been ruled out of the tour due to a quadriceps injury. The BCCI confirmed the same. Shedge, who has been a regular for Mumbai in the domestic circuit, was last seen in action India A’s tri-series against AFG and SL, where he essayed the role of a finisher with the bat, and even chipped in with the ball. Another feather in cap for Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma was conferred with the Padma Shri award, India’s fourth-highest civilian award. The former India men’s cricket team all-format captain was presented with the honour by President Droupadi Murmu at the Padma Awards 2026 during the second Civil Investiture Ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on June 23. No Hardik Pandya to CSK
Chennai Super Kings have categorically denied making any enquries for Hardik Pandya as part of a trade deal ahead of IPL 2026. This comes after reports suggested that the five-time champions could be interested in the all-rounder. Pandya, who moved from GT to MI in 2024, had reportedly communicated his decision to leave MI after the team failed to make it to the playoffs in 2026. Additionally, CSK are unwilling to trade any player at the moment, therefore putting to rest the rumours of Khaleel Ahmed also being possibly traded ahead of IPL 2027. Read more here.
CSK captain blames injuries for IPL 2026 flop
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad isn’t pleased that CSK haven’t qualified for the IPL Playoffs for the last three seasons. But he believes it isn’t just his or one player’s performance that has been the root cause, and has pinned the blame on multiple injuries that plaugued the team. In 2025, Gaikwad played just 5 matches, and Gurjapneet Singh wasn’t available. In 2026, Dewald Brevis, Ayush Mhatre, Nathan Ellis, Jamie Overton, Khaleel Ahmed and Dhoni were all injured.
