Following their defeat vs Rawalpindi, Islamabad United sit at third place with 9 points.

The 2026 Pakistan Super League (PSL) is nearing its business end and in the double-header Thursday on April 23, Rawalpindi Pindiz and Karachi Kings returned victorious, beating Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars respectively. The Shadab Khan-led side, who are fighting for the final two spots in the playoffs, were rattled by the Rawalpindi Pindiz by 6-wicket margin. Following the defeat, Islamabad United head coach Luke Ronchi appeared for the post-match presser, where he was part of a small scuffle.

In the wake of the loss, the head coach was visibly frustrated, but the gesture spilled during the presser while he was interrupted by a journalist. Ronchi, who was answering a question, seemed visibly frustrated with the act of the journalist continuously cutting him and as a result, snapped, stating, “He can ask me a question; I don’t give a sh*t.

Ronchi’s remark got the room in an awkward moment and saw the media coordinator quickly step in and restore the decorum.

Islamabad United eye PSL 2026 playoffs spot with two more matches to got

Reckoned to be the most successful side in PSL history, Islamabad United, after their 6-wicket defeat against the debutant side in Karachi, sit at third place with 4 wins from 8 games. With the Shadab Khan-led side set to face Hyderabad Kingsmen on April 24, followed by a clash against Multan Sultans on April 26, they will be eager to seal a place in the final four.

Further speaking of last night’s game against Mohammad Rizwan-led side, they were restricted to 137 in their stipulated 20 overs, thanks to two wickets each from Mohammad Amir, Saad Masood and Dian Forrester. In reply, the United’s struggled to get wickets at key intervals and a second wicket stand of 78 runs between Rizwan and Kamran Ghulam helped the Pindiz chase the total in 18.1 overs.
