WTC Points Table: Sri Lanka on top – Australia’s fantastic 9-wicket victory over England in the 1st Ashes Test in Brisbane powered them to the second spot World Test Championship points table. That meant, Virat Kohli’s Team India slipped to the 4th spot with 58.33 percentage points. Joe Root’s England also suffered further blow after they were docked five points for slow over-rate. Sri Lanka are currently on top with a hundred per cent record having won both Test matches against West Indies. Australia share a 100% record with Sri Lanka. But they have 12 points to Sri Lanka’s 24.

Joe Root’s England suffered another blow after ICC penalised the team for slow over-rate. For repeated offences, they were docked five points. Joe Root & Co were punished for slow over-rate during their series against India. The punishment means, England now only have nine points with 15.00 percentage points. They are at 7th place only ahead of Bangladesh.

ICC World Test Championship standings

Babar Azam-led Pakistan are currently at the third spot with 75 percentage points having won three and lost one. Their 2-0 whitewash of Bangladesh helped in the quest.

The Aussies started Day 4 of the Ashes 1st Test on a great note. In the first 30 mins of the play itself, both overnight batsman Dawid Malan & captain Joe Root were sent back to the pavilion. Nathan Lyon got his wicket no. 400th as he got Malan out to end 162 Runs partnership.

As for the World Test Championship, top two teams at the end of 2021-23 cycle will play the WTC Final. New Zealand are the current holder having won the WTC Final 2021 against India.
