Travis Head makes history, Australia star flattens India with first-ever WTC Final Century

Travis Head scored 26 runs off just 17 balls to dismantle India's dominance earlier in his innings before taking a calmer approach.

Travis Head continued his dream run in the Test format as he went on to smash a quickfire century against India in the WTC 2023 Final. Coming to bat post Lunch, Head looked fearless as pounced on anything bowled loose to him. He along with Steve Smith ensured that Australia remain on top at Stumps on Day 1.

Australian southpaw Travis Head became the first player to score a century in a World Test Championship final, after striking a counter-attacking ton against India at the Oval in London on Wednesday.

He brought up his century of only 106 balls in the 65th over of the innings, choosing the marquee clash for the WTC title to score his maiden overseas ton.

From the very first ball, Head looked reading the surface well, judging the movement of the Duke ball as well as picking up the bowlers’ lines and lengths. Not taking time to settle in, he went after the Indian attack from the get-go, turning the strike and finding boundaries at will.
