When a host of Tennis stars are in China, they got to fulfill the obligation of speaking a few lines in Mandarin to please the fans. The video was shared by the Tennis TV on Thursday. It features Carlos Alcaraz, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev, Frances Tiafoe, Ben Shelton and Holger Rune.

All the players thought they were being called for a regular promo video where they had to read standard Mandarin lines. But Dimitrov, the mastermind behind the prank, wrote funny one-liners that suit each player. It was then translated into Mandarin and the players were asked to nail that with the right pronunciation.

It started off with Tsitsipas being given the line, “I consider myself to be intelligent.” The Greek struggled initially but got it right. Alcaraz was given the line “I want to be a goat” and the funny part was that he was also asked to mimic the sound of a goat. Not able to identify that, Alcaraz struggling to get it right will surely tickle one’s funny bone.

Dimitrov even tricked Andrey Rublev into saying “I love Grigor.” While all the players were struggling to get it right, Dimitrov was having the time of his life from the booth.

Grigor Dimitrov through to quarterfinal

On the court too, Dimitrov has had the time of his life. He clinched his biggest win of the season by defeating World No.2 Carlos Alcaraz in the third round. The 32-year old came into the contest after failing to even win a set in his three previous matches against Alcaraz. At Shanghai, he put on a great fight and went on to win the contest 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.

The World No.19 will next face 22nd seed Nicolas Jarry in the quarterfinal on Friday. The winner of the contest will face either fifth seed Andrey Rublev or Ugo Humbert in the semifinal.
