Kiran George and Sankar will face each other for a spot in the second round, while Subhankar Dey also faces a compatriot in Kiran Kumar Mekala in the first round on Monday. India’s Shubhankar Dey, Malavika Bansod, Asmitha Chaliha, Aakarshi Kashyap will headline Day 1 action in the first round of the Orlean Masters 2022. The Super Series 100 Badminton tournament kicks start on March 29, Tuesday and the finals will be played till 3rd April, Sunday.

Kiran George vs Sankar Muthusamy 

Kiran George is ranked World No.57 and he is eyeing his second Super 100 title of the year. He started the year by winning the Odisha Open title. He also won the Polish Open International Challenge. In the Orleans Masters, he was ousted from the second round. He enters the Vietnam Open after reaching the semifinal at Maharashtra International Challenge.

Sankar Muthusamy achieved the Junior World No.1 ranking just two months ago. His best performance this year so far is winning the Iran Junior International series. In the BWF Super series, he started the year with a first round defeat at the Syed Modi International and Odisha Open. He didn’t qualify for the main round of Orleans Masters and Taipei Open. He enters the Vietnam Open after facing first round defeat at Chattisgarh International Challenge tournament. Both the players will be facing each other for the first time.

Subhankar Dey vs Kiran Kumar Mekala

Ranked World No.74, Subhankar Dey started the year by reaching the quarterfinal at Odisha Open. He however struggled to go past the first round in other tournaments like Indian Open, Syed Modi International, Orleans Masters and Taipei Open. He enters the Vietnam Open after finishing as runner-up at Chattisgarh International.

Kiran Kumar Mekala started the year by reaching the third round at the Odisha Open. That was his only BWF Super 100 tournament so far this year. He enters the Vietnam Open after bowing out from the second round at Chattisgarh International. This will be the first time both the players will be up against each other.

Abhyansh Singh vs Cheam June Wei 

Abhyansh Singh is ranked 213th in the world. He started the year by reaching the quarterfinal at Odisha Open and this will be his second Super 100 tournament this year. Meanwhile, Cheam June Wei is ranked 67th in the world. He reached the quarterfinal at the Syed Modi International earlier this year which was his best performance this year. He enters the Vietnam Open after bowing out from the first round at Taipei Open.

Naren Iyer vs Kok Jing Hong 

Naren Shankar Iyer is ranked a lowly 419th in the world and he will be playing his fourth tournament this year. He started the Odisha Open this year with a first round exit. Before the Vietnam Open, he failed to reach the main draw at Chattisgarh International. He will face Malaysia’s Kok Jing Hong in the opener.
