If we think of Tennis players, Novak Djokovic is one name that comes almost immediately on our mind. Even those who doesn’t follow the sport know Djokovic. While his popularity is on one side, on the other hand, sometimes the other Tennis players in the circuit, who have also made some significant contributions in their career fail to get recognised.

Former World No.5 Eugenie Bouchard shared one such incident that she encountered recently. At a customs office in Germany, her profession was identified through that of Djokovic’s. Bouchard took to Twitter and wrote about the funny incident in detail.
The incident happened a few days back when Eugenie Bouchard was on her way to Spain. She was travelling to feature in the Billie Jean King Cup Final that will get underway from 7th November.
At the airport, she was asked about her profession. When she mentioned that she was a tennis player, the customs officers brought up Novak Djokovic. “Oh so you are a professional? Like Novak Djokovic?’. Yes sir, just like that,” wrote the Canadian Tennis player with a smiling emoji, recalling the incident.
Back in 2014, when Novak Djokovic won the Wimbledon title. Bouchard finished as runner-up in the Women’s Singles in the same Grand Slam event. The Canadian was also a semifinalist at the Australian Open and Roland Garros.

Eugenie Bouchard to represent Canada in Billie Jean King Cup
Eugenie Bouchard is currently ranked as the world No. 265. She is gearing up to play for Canada in the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup. Along with Bouchard, Canada will also be represented by the likes of Leylah Fernandez, Rebecca Marino, Gabriela Dabrowski. 12 teams will feature in the Billie Jean Cup Finals.
Eugenie Bouchard missed almost the entire 2022 season as she was recovering from a shoulder surgery. She played in just a few tournaments this year and couldn’t go past the qualifiers in any Grand Slam events. The Canadian last played at Guadalajara, where she bowed out from the second round.
