Singapore Open Badminton LIVE: India’s ace shuttlers PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth will lead India’s challenge at the Singapore Open 2022. The tournament will kickstart from 12th July and Sindhu and Srikanth are the only Indian players who are seeded in the tournament. While Sindhu is the third seed, Srikanth is seeded seventh in men’s singles. Both of them are placed in easy draw and are expected to make a deep-run in the tournament. Men’s draw

Men’s Singles 

World Championship silver medallist Srikanth Kidambi is the only seeded player in the Men’s Singles. He is the seventh seed and will make his return after the Indonesia Open.  Srikanth is placed in the first quarter of the draw and after the withdrawal of Viktor Axelsen, he is now the only seeded player in this quarter. He begins the tournament by facing a qualifier.

India’s Sai Praneeth also finds himself in the same quarter. The former champion will face China’s Zhao Junpeng in the first round. If Praneeth wins the first two rounds, he is likely to meet Srikanth in the quarterfinals.

HS Prannoy, who has been in good form this year is placed in the second quarter of the draws. He begins his campaign by facing Thailand’s Sitthikom Thammasin in the in the first round. He is placed in a tough quarter that has third seed Chou Tien Chen and fifth seed Jonatan Christie. India’s Parupalli Kashyap is also in the very same quarter and he will face Jonatan Christie in the opening round.

Meanwhile Sameer Verma is placed in the last quarter of the draws and he takes on China’s unseeded Li Shifeng in the first round. Sixth seed Loh Kean Yew is the only seeded player in this quarter.

Men’s Doubles

In men’s doubles, Krishnaprasad Garaga and Vishnuvardhan Goud Panjala are in the second quarter of the draw. They will face Singapore’s unseeded Terry Hee and Loh Kean Hean in the opening round.

Dhruv Kapila and MR Arjun are the other Indian pair and they will be up against Germany’s Jones Jansen and Jan Volker in the first round. Shyam Prasad and S Sunjith have also qualified for the main draw and they will open their campaign against Chinese Taipei’s Lee Jhe-huei and Yang Po-hsuan.

Women’s draw

Women’s Singles

PV Sindhu, who suffered two back-to-back quarterfinal losses at the Malaysia Open and Malaysia Masters will look to make a strong comeback in the Singapore Open. She is the third seed and the World No.7 will face Germany’s Lianne Tan in the first round. The other seeded player in Sindhu’s quarter is seventh seed Busanan Ongbamrungphan.

Meanwhile, Saina Nehwal, who has had a poor season so far is looking to make a comeback. She begins her campaign against fellow Indian Malvika Bansod. Fifth seed He Bingjiao and fourth seed Ratchanok Intanon are in the same quarter.

Doubles draw

In women’s doubles, Pooja Dandu and Arathi Sunil & Simran Singhi and Ritika Thaker are the women’s doubles pair from India participating in this tournament. They are placed in the same quarter. While Dandu-Sunil pair will face a qualifier in the first round, Singhi-Thaker will face second seed Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai in the first round.

Mixed Doubles 

India’s mixed doubles pair Nithin HV and Poorvisha Ram & Venkat Gaurav Prasad and Juhi Dewangan are the only Indian players and both the pair will face each each other in the first round.
