Malik’s heartwarming post for Sania has put the divorce rumours to rest for some time now. Malik said that the 36-year-old is a hope to all sportswomen and he was proud of what all she achieved in her career, calling her an inspiration.

You are the much needed hope for all the women in sports. Super proud of you for all you have achieved in your career. You’re an inspiration for many, keep going strong. Many congratulations on an unbelievable career,” wrote Malik in an emotional post.

Sania, who had announced that the Australian Open will be her ‘last dance’ featured in the mixed doubles event with Rohan Bopanna. Quarter-finals then semi-finals and then the final, the journey was nothing less than a fairytale, however, it came to a stuttering halt in the summit clash as Brazil’s Luisa Stefani and Rafael Matos defeated the India duo in straight sets 7-6, 6-2.

“If I cry, these are happy tears. I don’t want to take away the moment from Matos-Stefani who deserved this. I’m still going to play a couple more tournaments but my career started in Melbourne in 2005 when I played Serena as an 18-year-old. “There’s no better place for me, or person for me, to finish my Grand Slam career,” Sania said.
