The Tokyo Olympic Gold medallist took to Twitter on Monday and informed about his injury. “Injuries are part of the journey, but it’s never easy. Recently I sustained a muscle strain during my training,” Neeraj Chopra.

“Following a medical evaluation, me and my team have decided to avoid any risks which can aggravate the injury,” he further added in his note. He then confirmed his withdrawal from the FBK Games by stating, “Unfortunately, it means that I have to withdraw from the FBK Games, in Hegelo. Wishing the organisers and the tournament all the success.”

“I am on the road to recovery and will aim to be back on the track in June. Thank You for all your support,” he concluded. It remains to be seen whether he can return back to action at the Paavo Nurmi Games that is scheduled to be held on 13th June.

Neeraj Chopra has two more events lined up in June. He is scheduled to participate at the Ostrava Golden Meet on 27th June. He is then set to feature at the Lausanne Diamond League on 30th June.

The World No.1 Javelin Thrower began his season this year at the Doha Diamond League. He won the event with a world-leading throw of 88.67m.
