East Bengal is participating in the ISL for the first time in cooperation with Emami Group. They received two ISL seasons earlier thanks to Shree Cement. We will get out of here. Various clubs in the world have suffered in this way, we are doing it too. We will come out that way too, we have to be patient.”

East Bengal would, at best, place ninth with 22 points, even with a victory on Saturday. With 34, Bagan could only finish third, far behind ISL Shield champions Mumbai City (46 from 20 matches).The stakes aren’t high for a match that usually decides championships because ATK Mohun Bagan qualified for the playoffs for the third year in a row while East Bengal suffered the humiliation of yet another bottom-half finish (for the third consecutive year).
